Playful Words, Music and More with Unbound
This year’s Unbound events will have audiences viewing the Book Festival’s key themes through the looking glass, bringing together a host of talented literary voices playing with words, music, illustration, poetry and performance in Charlotte Square Gardens' Spiegeltent each night (13-28 August).
The 2017 line-up includes ‘godfathers of hip-hop’ The Last Poets performing some of their vibrant, revolutionary tracks; a delicious mash-up of spoken word, poetry and music with The Flint & Pitch Revue; and anarchic entertainers Dive Queer Party presenting two nights of filthy fun including a closing cabaret party of epic proportions on the final night of the Festival.
Poetry fans will certainly be left satisfied with some unmissable nights of top poetry talent including a Babble On Poetry Party bringing together Scottish National Slam winner Daniel Piper, social media sensation Hera Lindsay Bird and more; a night paying tribute to legendary Edinburgh poet Jock Scot hosted by Neu! Reekie!; and one of the most exciting new voices in UK poetry, Kayo Chingonyi, brings together some of his friends for a very special Unbound evening.
Not only that but legends of children’s literature Julia and Malcolm Donaldson, the creators of The Gruffalo, stay up late on a school night for an enthrallingly entertaining evening of stories and songs. And there’s much, much more…
For more information about these and all of the other Unbound nights, you can browse the full listings on our website, head on over to The Skinny website or pick up a copy of The Skinny and have a read of the Unbound supplement, which contains event information and features on Unbound participants.
Unbound evenings are free and unticketed and take place every evening from 13-28 August from 9pm to 11pm in the Spiegeltent in Charlotte Square Gardens. (Please note: Unbound on Monday 28 August will run from 7pm to 11pm).
