Margo Lanagan
Born in New South Wales and still based in Australia, Margo Lanagan’s work has leapt to an international scale. Black Juice, her short story collection, was published in the UK in 2004 and won two World Fantasy Awards and the 2006 Printz Honor Award. Her novel Tender Morsels also won a Printz Honor Award, in 2009, the year after its date of publication. Tender Morsels is a dark and meaningful tale loosely based on Snow White and Rose Red, but it’s no fairytale. Lanagan has travelled extensively but currently lives in Sydney and continues to update her eventful blog. The inspiration she pours into her work leaps from the pages of her books; she says she gets all this inspiration ‘from reading both good and bad writing, from watching and listening to people, from landscapes and cityscapes, from wildlife documentaries and building sites and classrooms and music’.
Interviews with Lanagan appear on the SF site and Clarkes World Magazine.
