Olesya Khromeychuk & Andrey Kurkov: We Need to Talk About Ukraine

Until recently, Andrey Kurkov (one of Ukraine’s finest novelists) was struggling to write fiction. Non-fiction felt more urgent and he wrote article upon article, trying to keep the war alive in people’s minds. Olesya Khromeychuck’s has been doing the same and her January Guardian Long Read was a plea against ‘Ukraine fatigue’. Today, over two years after Russia’s full-scale invasion, they talk to Jen Stout about the stories from Ukraine.
