When you think of Jenni Fagan, so much comes to mind: bestselling novelist, acclaimed poet, fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. She is also a survivor of the care system. Her unforgettable memoir Ootlin, which she launches with us here today, tells of the young person who – by age 16 – had more than 27 placements within ‘the system’. In this exclusive event, Fagan joins Caroline Sanderson to talk about how she “found her way to books and found in a world of words the only place I ever actually belonged”.
