Hisham Matar: Walking with Friends

The genesis for Hisham Matar’s latest novel began almost ten years ago when he scribbled two lines on the back of an envelope. Today, the muliti-Booker-nominated, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Return shares what happened in the in-between years to result in My Friends: an exquisite, intensely moving book, set across London and Libya, about political exile and the emotional homeland to be found in deep friendships.
