Anne Boyer: The Politics of Illness

The critically acclaimed poet and essayist Anne Boyer had just celebrated her 41st birthday when she received the news that she had highly aggressive triple-negative breast cancer. Winner of the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction, The Undying documents Boyer’s life post-diagnosis alongside ruminations on illness, metaphor, and politics. Working in the tradition of Susan Sontag and Audre Lorde, Boyer speaks with Marjorie Lotfi about care under capitalism.
